Presentation of CRJ-200-LR aircraft leased by Volga-Aviaekspress Airline from VTB-Leasing

On August 7th, 2009 at Volgograd international airport the press conference and presentation of the new CRJ-200 aircraft took place. The plane was transferred by OJSC VTB-Leasing to Air VOLGA (“Volga-Aviaekspress Airlines”) under a leasing transaction.

The following dignitaries were among the guests of the event: Mr. Nikolai Maksyuta, head of Volgograd regional administration; Mr. Sergei Gavrilov, Deputy of Russian State Duma; representatives of the Volgograd regional legislative and executive authorities; executives of Bombardier Regional Aircraft, a Canadian company manufacturing Canadian Regional Jet (CRJ) aircraft; top management of Volgograd International airport, Air Volga (“Volga-Aviaekspress”) airline and OJSC VTB Leasing.

Canadian Regional Jet (CRJ) aircraft was leased by Air VOLGA (“Volga-Aviaekspress”) Airlines from OJSC VTB Leasing (contract owner for this transaction is VTB Leasing (Europe) Limited, a 100%-owned subsidiary of OJSC VTB Leasing. This transaction is part of the program of modernization of the aircraft fleet; the aircraft delivered is the first foreign-made plane on the fleet of Air VOLGA.

CRJ 200 – is a medium-haul passenger jet developed by Bombardier Regional Aircraft, a Canadian company that’s a member company of Bombardier Aerospace group. The plane is meeting all international technical specifications and requirements; it is equipped with required navigation equipment. This allows the plane to operate all routes of Air VOLGA as well as international flights. CRJ-200 has maximum flight range of 2,500 km and cruising speed of 850 km/h. The planes have a cabin seating 50 passengers in comfortable leather-upholstered seats (two per each row). The plane’s cabin can be rapidly reconfigured into an economy-only layout or into a two-class layout (business and economy). CRJ-200 also has spacious overhead luggage bins for passengers’ carry-on luggage. The airline’s flight and technical personnel undertook training at Airline Support Sweden, a Swedish company that specializes in servicing this type of aircraft.

In August 2009 the Volgograd airport expects to receive the second CRJ-200 jet that also was leased to the airline by OJSC VTB-Leasing.

OOO Volga-Aviaekspress (Volgograd) was established in 1998. The airline is the sole air carrier based in the Volgograd region. The airline is operating both domestic and international regular and charter routes carrying passengers, mail and cargo.
In March 2008 the Board of directors of Volga-Aviaekspress approved the decision to rebrand the airline. Its new name is Air Volga.
Presently Air Volga as a regional carrier operates the following locally manufactured aircraft: Tupolev-134A (2 planes) and Yakovlev-42D (three planes).
